Laws Indigenous to the City of Nadira

LAWS CONCERNING CITIZENSHIP AND VISITATION.

I.  As the City of Nadira is a Free Merchant Port and has no military enemy, no Gorean will be denied visit or citizenship on the basis of Home Stone.

THE CITY OF NADIRA, AS A FREE MERCHANT PORT IS GOVERNED BY MERCHANT LAW. Not Military Law.  Therefore Merchant Law outweighs all other Gorean Law in Nadira.

LAWS PERTAINING TO THE RIGHTS OF THE GOREAN FREE MAN

I.  The City of Nadira recognizes the supreme right of Free Gorean Men to choose their own Companions. Therefore, no Gorean Man will be prejudiced or persecuted on the basis of Sexual Preference or choice of a Companion in the City of Nadira.

IA.  Anyone within the City limits of Nadira that persecutes a Free Gorean Man on the basis of his Sexual Preference, Companion or Home Stone will be arrested and punished in a manner befitting said crimes against the rights of Gorean Free Men.

The Peace in Nadira shall be kept.

II. Gorean Men have the right of Custody of their own heirs. Should a companionship between a Free Man and Free Woman dissolve, the Free Woman retains the rights of Visitation and Instructing the children; The Free Man retains custody. (This is book.)

REGARDING THE RIGHTS OF FREE WOMEN IN NADIRA.

I.  Free Women maintain their station of Freedom as a privilege given to them by Free Men. This privilege can be taken away. It shall be taken away in instances of conduct befitting the collar; stealing, and other crimes (see City Laws). Free Women have the right to speak their opinions; however they will not be permitted to abase a Free Man or abuse their privilege of free speech as a tool for slander or ridicule of Free Men who defend these city walls. Nor is any Free Woman permitted to strike a Free Man except in self-defense.

LAWS PERTAINING TO THE CASTE OF ASSASSINS.

I. Registered Assassins bearing the mark shall be granted entrance into the City of Nadira. Non Registered Assassins shall not be permitted, under any circumstance.

II.  If a Registered Assassin enters the City of Nadira, he must provide proofs of the crime(s) committed by the target to the High Council of Nadira, along with a valid Contract.

LAWS PERTAINING TO FREED SLAVES.

I. Any Freed Slave that enters the City of Nadira must provide their Manumission Papers to the Administrator of Nadira, Mihok Sadir. This is for their own protection during their stay in Nadira. A freed slave without valid Manumission Papers can become enslaved.

LAWS PERTAINING TO THE TEMPLE AND THE INITIATE CASTE.

I.  Any person found desecrating, looting, defacing or vandalizing a Temple of the Priest - Kings shall be tortured, and executed by Immolation. (Fire)

II.   Slaves are not permitted in the Temple at any time. Any slave found within the Temple shall be put to death.

III. Initiates are granted free access to come and go within the City of Nadira, with asking that they contact the High Council with the reason for their visit.

IV. The City of Nadira contributes donations and tithes to the Temple and to the Initiate Caste each En'var.
